A Is for Anatomy and Training Models
Health Edco has long been known for our detailed selection of anatomical and training models that you’ll find in our product sections devoted to anatomy and procedure training.
Health Edco’s training models and simulators have become the standard in training healthcare students and professionals to perform a variety of medical and nursing procedures, from injection training and TB testing to nasogastric intubation, catheterization, and fetal monitoring. Our latest addition to our line of procedure training models is the Swab Test Training Model. Durable and affordable, this model is designed to train healthcare students and staff on the performance of nasopharyngeal swab testing for the diagnosis of COVID-19, the flu, and other respiratory infections. A nasopharyngeal swab can be passed through the nasal passage, and a standard tongue depressor can be inserted into the mouth to depress the fleshlike tongue to demonstrate and practice strep testing. B Is for Babies
Nurturing healthy babies, growing healthy families: This is the mission of our sister company, Childbirth Graphics. Health Edco proudly carries Childbirth Graphics’ childbirth education materials, models, and resources in our product section devoted to childbirth & development. We have a wide range of resources dedicated to educating expectant and new parents as well as healthcare students in a full range of childbearing topics, including pregnancy, labor and birth, breastfeeding, postpartum, early parenting, and more.
C Is for Cardiovasular Health
In the United States, heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, accounting for about one in every four deaths. The good news is that leading a heart-healthy lifestyle—such as being smoke-free, eating a healthy diet, and engaging in regular physical activity—can make a big difference in cutting the risk for heart disease. To help students and patients understand what heart disease is, how it develops, and how to reduce its risk, Health Edco carries a comprehensive line of heart health education products, models, and displays. These resources cover multiple aspects of cardiovascular health and make them easy to understand for any audience, including atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, and more.
D Is for Diabetes
It is estimated that just over 1 in 10 Americans has diabetes, while about 1 in 3 American adults has prediabetes. Despite many myths and misunderstands about diabetes, diabetes is a serious condition, leading to multiple damaging health consequences and even death when it is not properly managed and controlled. For this reason, Health Edco has a full line of diabetes education products, models, and materials in our diabetes education resources section. E Is for E-Cigarettes
In the last few years, the popularity of e-cigarettes has exploded, particularly among young people, resulting in youth nicotine addiction that can affect brain development as well as an outbreak of lung injuries associated with e-cigarettes and vaping products. To help young people and adults understand the risks of e-cigarettes, we’ve expanded our line of tobacco education resources to include teaching tools that specifically address the risks and potential harms of e-cigarettes. F Is for Food Models
As part of Health Edco’s line of nutrition education resources, Health Edco is known for its realistic food model packages that are designed to teach about healthy eating and portion sizes. Our popular faux food model packages feature lifelike food models as well as cards with nutrition facts that are color-coded to MyPlate for each included food. G Is for Gum Disease and Oral Health
Oral health can be a window into overall health, and Health Edco has dental models and materials in our oral health section that emphasize the importance of proper tooth brushing, flossing, and cleaning throughout life. Our popular Progression of Baby Bottle Tooth Decay Display is an important visual for parents to understand the dental consequences of putting an infant or young child to bed with a bottle of juice, breastmilk, formula, or any liquid containing added or naturally occurring sugars. H Is for Hygiene

I Is for Influenza
It is estimated that about 8 percent of the population of the United States gets the flu each year, resulting in 12,000 to 61,000 deaths annually since 2010. J Is for Junk Food

K Is for Kidney Disease

L Is for Lung Disease
Health Edco’s foundation goes back to the 1960s with the development of the Lung Ashtray, an early anti-smoking resource showing how smoking harms the lungs. In our product section devoted specifically to men’s health, we have models, displays, and handouts that address health conditions specific to men, such as testicular cancer, prostate cancer, and male breast cancer. For example, our recently updated TSE Mini Pocket Guide is a convenient handout to explain how to perform testicular self-examination for the early detection of testicular cancer, and our Feel for Yourself: Prostate Conditions Display serves as an ice breaker for healthcare professionals to discuss prostate cancer and prostate cancer screening with their patients.
N Is for Nutrition
Good nutrition is essential for good health. Our section of teaching tools dedicated to nutrition is packed with a diverse range of educational resources for audiences of all ages. In addition to our faux food models and materials that explain the dangers of a diet rich in junk food, Health Edco has unique teaching materials to teach the basics of MyPlate, the importance of portion control, or the role of balancing calories and physical activity to maintain a healthy weight. P Is for Physical Activity
Learning about the importance of physical activity is a fun exercise with the resources in our section on physical activity. Our tactile Globs of Fat™ and Masses of Muscle™ Set, for example, reveals that muscle takes up about half the volume of fat while weighing the same amount. And, our SpinSmart™ Physical Activity Wheel helps children understand why physical activity is important and rewards them with extra points for performing a particular exercise.

Q Is for Quality
Although quality isn’t a health education topic, it’s something our health education materials are known for, and it’s something we take great pride in! R Is for Relationships & Sex Education
Teaching about relationships and their sexual consequences can be difficult, but our sex education resources can help break the ice and bring complicated issues into focus. For example, our Wheel of Choices Game helps young people understand the connection between actions and consequences while they learn about STDs, pregnancy, abstinence, sexual violence, and more. S Is for Substance Abuse
Health Edco has an extensive line of products related to substance abuse in our sections dedicated to drugs and alcohol. T Is for Tobacco
As mentioned above, Health Edco got its start with the creation of a Lung Ashtray that helped raise awareness of the dangers of smoking. From that humble beginning, our line of tobacco education resources has grown to cover materials dedicated to teaching dangers of all forms of nicotine addiction, whether from smoking, smokeless tobacco, or e-cigarettes. One long-standing customer favorite is our Mr. Gross Mouth™, a life-size mouth model with a lifelike tongue that reveals the ravages of smokeless tobacco use on oral health: cancer of the upper palate, tongue, mouth, and gums; inflammation and recession of the gums; cavities; rotting teeth; and tooth loss. Lessons about the dangers of smokeless tobacco are sure to be remembered after an encounter with Mr. Gross Mouth!
U Is for UV Radiation
Our sun safety product section raises awareness of what can happen after too much exposure to the sun’s UV radiation, such as sunburn, premature aging of the skin, eye damage, and skin damage, including melanoma, a leading form of cancer among teens and adults.
V Is for Vaccines
Vaccines save lives. Our Childhood Immunizations Folding Display reminds parents of the importance of childhood immunizations and covers more than 14 diseases that childhood vaccinations prevent. Similarly, we have women’s health education resources and sex education materials that raise awareness about HPV vaccination (including our Pap Tests, Cervical Cancer, and HPV Folding Display and What You Should Know About STDs Folding Display) to help prevent HPV-related cancers, including cervical cancer, and and genital warts.
W Is for Women’s Health
Health Edco has an extensive line of resources devoted to women’s health, including our many breast self-exam (BSE) models that provide women with the tools they need to practice breast self-awareness for the early detection of breast cancer. Our popular Multi-Type BSE Model, for example, available in beige and brown skin tones, features three breast models—one with no lumps, one with a fibrocystic condition, and one with palpable and non-palpable lumps—to emphasize the importance of BSE, clinical exams, and mammography for the early breast cancer detection.
X Is for X-Ray
Our Hand-Held Mechanical Smoker uses an image of an actual X-ray depicting lung cancer as part of its demonstration to show the dangers of smoking. As this deceptively simple model puffs on a cigarette, the cigarette’s tar deposits on the X-ray image, powerfully revealing the connection between tobacco use and lung cancer.
Our many women’s health education resources dedicated to the early detection of breast cancer provide information about mammograms, which are lose-dose X-rays of the breast that can help detect areas of concern. Materials including our Breast Care Folding Display cover the importance of mammography, while the non-palpable lumps in our BSE models also emphasize the role of mammography in early breast cancer detection.
Y Is for Young People
Prevention is the best medicine, and the best form of prevention is developing healthy habits from the very beginning! That’s why Health Edco has many health education resources that are great for teaching young people. Just a few examples include our SpinSmart™ Activity Wheels dedicated to nutrition, physical activity, and tobacco. These SpinSmart Wheels include questions for young people in grades 1 through 5 as well as for grade 6 through adult.
