The models unveil some of the harmful substances in e-cigarette aerosol vapor by associating them with other products also containing those substances, including:

  • Car (acrolein)
  • Specimen jar (formaldehyde)
  • Battery (cadmium and nickel)
  • Gasoline can (benzene)
  • Pesticide can (acetaldehyde)
  • Nail polish remover (acetone)
  • Laundry pod (propylene glycol)

The display comes with a two-sided key card that discusses other dangerous substances that have also been found in e-cigarettes, including diacetyl (which causes “popcorn lung”), vitamin E acetate (which is associated with severe lung injury), fentanyl (a synthetic opioid involved in many opioid deaths), and more.
