In Health Education,
What’s the Name of the Game?

At Health Edco, we share your mission of health education and know how important it is to keep learners engaged in the health messages you work so hard to impart. After all, developing healthy habits and behaviors can have a lasting positive impact on learners’ lifelong health and quality of life!

However, we also know how challenging it can be to keep learners effectively engaged in the learning process. Lectures and textbooks have their role, but attention-grabbing models and displays often leave a far more lasting impression in health education. Models and displays, for example, are ideal resources to bring health education to life by depicting health concepts in visual and often tactile terms.

Another invaluable method of teaching health education concepts is through the power of playing games. Not only are games fun and entertaining, but they also keep players actively focused and engaged in the material. Games can promote collaboration, teamwork, cooperation, and critical-thinking skills. As a result, when learners play a health education game, they pick up essential information and life skills all while having a fun, memorable, and engaging experience.

Health Edco has many entertaining health education games and activities that cover multiple health topics and make lessons and essential health messages more memorable and effective. Read on to discover the names of several of our most popular health education games!

Mind-Turning Wheel Games & Activities!

What’s the name of an entertaining and comprehensive nutrition education game? Look no further than our SpinSmart Nutrition Wheel! This interactive, spinning wheel is divided into eight food categories. Players spin the wheel and then answer multiple-choice questions for points and solve word scrambles for bonus points, all contained in the detailed presentation guide. With 64 questions for younger players in grades 1 through 5 and 64 questions for players in grade 6 through adult, the game can provide multiple sessions of engaged learning. Team play allows players to work together to answer questions and understand concepts related to key nutrients and different varieties of foods.
STD Roulette Game: The name of this wheel game is catchy, but unfortunately so are the sexually transmitted diseases and infections it is trying to raise awareness about to prevent! The spinning wheel in this activity is divided into eight STD categories covering multiple STDs (herpes, HIV/AIDs, syphilis, HPV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, hepatitis B, and other STDs). Forty game cards cover real-life scenarios addressing different sexual situations. A detailed leader’s guide includes information about each sexually transmitted disease and infection category on the wheel. The game promotes common-sense decision making and is a great way to approach sensitive topics.

Never Boring Board Games!

Skip the drinking games for interactive alcohol education instead with our Alcohol Changes Everything Game! Perfect for individual players or teams, this board game helps players understand how life can quickly spin out of control with life-changing consequences when alcohol abuse is involved. Players earn points by moving through the board and correctly answering questions about the consequences of alcohol abuse. When players land on alcohol danger event spaces, they draw an event card describing an occasion when alcohol abuse could occur. Players use the included alcohol bottle decoder to read the card’s hidden message and see whether alcohol has caused them costly consequences.
When learners play our Substance Abuse and Consequences Game, they’ll win by learning substance abuse is a losing game! The game highlights the potential legal, financial, health, and social consequences substance abuse causes for users and those around them. As they move across the board, players answer questions quizzing their knowledge about a wide variety of drugs, such as opioids (including the synthetic opioid fentanyl), methamphetamine, tobacco, steroids, club drugs, inhalants, and different forms of marijuana. Dilemma cards offer opportunities for player discussion and concept reinforcement. The game is a great way to emphasize the fact that when you use, you lose.
